Crowsnest Pass Ski Clinics
Avalanche Rescue Refresher
- January 13th, 2025 -
Do you live in the Crowsnest Pass area and backcountry ski?
Zenith Mountain Guides is teaming up with Spry in Blairmore to offer an avalanche rescue skills tune-up on Monday, January 13th. The Crowsnest Pass area has a complex snowpack and offers interesting skiing for locals. It’s also a “black hole” for avalanche forecasting with fewer commercial operations contributing information to the public forecast compared to areas like the Bow Valley.
This one-day course will be a great review of basic avalanche safety and companion rescue skills. Ideally, you’ve taken an AST or avalanche rescue course before but even if you haven’t and you’re regularly recreating in avalanche terrain, we want you. Zenith and Spry are working together to offset the cost to make it affordable for you!
Final location for the course is conditions dependent but a strong possibility is the East side of Tecumseh. You must be capable of ski touring ~1hr from the trailhead to the course location.
